Inside the Factory series 3

Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey get exclusive access to some of the biggest factories in Britain and Europe  to follow the relentless 24 hour production lines that produce our favourite products on an epic scale.

Episode 1 sees Gregg follow the journey of 20 tonnes of dried tea through the factory that produces one quarter of all the tea we drink in Britain, turning it into 6.9 million tea bags. Meanwhile Cherry Healey heads to Scotland to discover that the bag surrounding your tea is a highly engineered fabric made from hemp, wood and polypropylene, and historian Ruth Goodman investigates the murky Victorian story of tea adulteration that saw used leaves mixed with chemicals and sheep dung before being re-sold.  Today our tea habit sees us drink 165 million cups a day.
